Barb’s place offers specialized tutoring sessions to children that are registered with a B.C. accredited homeschool program. We follow the direction of a special education Teacher or case manager to deliver each child’s individual educational goals. If you are interested but not yet registered with a school, we can help connect you.
One shoe doesn't fit all.
That's where having a great team comes in handy. We believe that if a child isn't learning something, we need to change the way we are teaching. Our program is able to facilitate adapting or modifying ways of learning and teaching while still reaching the same goal or learning outcome. To adapt is to make slight adaptations to an already existing program without changing the structure. To modify is to be able to take said program and deliver the information in a way that helps teach the student but may break through the conventional worksheet.
The multi-sensory approach involves different parts of the human brain. This provides learners with more than a single way to make connections, understand more concepts and retain knowledge. For instance, in an activity that integrates auditory, tactile and visual stimuli, children will be able to build a relationship between the sound, feeling and appearance of that learning activity. This will enable learners to better remember the main information of that lesson or activity.
